WMRR only adopts out rabbits that have been spayed or neutered. We routinely vaccinate our rabbits for RHDV2; if you decide to adopt a rabbit who is between their initial and booster, we will ask that you bring the bunny back for their booster day. Sometimes, foster bunnies might not yet be fixed, but we would work with the foster families to have that done while in their care, along with having them vaccinated for RHDV2. Bunnies may be housed indoors only.
We do not adopt out to schools, 4H, or breeders. However, we do have an awesome educational program we can bring to your classroom, scout meeting, birthday party, etc. to teach kids about bunny care and offer the opportunity to pet and interact with a friendly bunny!
Bunnies must be vaccinated for RHDV2 before they may be brought to the shelter for bonding dates. The vaccine has recently been approved in Massachusetts, so check with your veterinarian about getting your bunny up to date. Some of our rabbits are in the process of bonding with rabbits outside our rescue. Bonding can take time, and since not all bonding works, we keep rabbits listed up here until they have been adopted.
Bunnies Available for Adoption
The rabbits below are all eagerly looking for their forever homes! Any rabbits living in the shelter may also be fostered; rabbits are happiest in homes, even when waiting for their forever families.
Hilda
Female, Adult
*AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION* foster bunny Hilda and her sister Zelda came to WMRR almost a year ago as an owner surrender. Her sister was adopted long ago, but Hilda is still seeking her forever family. Hilda was overweight when she came to us but she is much healthier now. She is an intelligent, friendly gal with a playful disposition.
Hilda is fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Sarah
Female, Adult
*AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION* shelter bunny Sarah was brought to WMRR by a person facing dire personal circumstances. She was tearfully handed over to us by a loving human no longer able to take care of her. We took Sarah in and had her seen by our vet right away to attend to what turned out to be a superficial wound. She is completely healed, and despite a scar on her nose, she is in great health. Sarah is super friendly and loves to snuggle! She would be happy in a home where she will get lots of love.
Sarah fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Peggy & Angelica
Females, Adult
*AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION* foster bunnies Peggy and Angelica were rescued in fall of 2021 from an abandoned backyard breeding operation. These two sweethearts love having lots of space to explore.
These sweetie pies have been adopted twice from wMRR but returned due to circumstances beyond the adopters' control. We are truly hoping to find their forever family soon!
Peggy and Angelica are fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Other Bunnies In Our Rescue
The rabbits listed below are available to be fostered, are pending adoption, or are not yet ready for adoption.
Hugo
Male, Adult
ADOPTION PENDING shelter bunny Hugo came to WMRR with his brother, Victor. He is an energetic and friendly fellow and is excited to soon be going off to his forever home!
Hugo is fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Bee
Female, Senior
ON MEDICAL HOLD shelter bunny Bee came to WMRR via Animal Control. She is a senior gal who was unspayed, and when we had her spayed, the veterinarian found (and removed) a very large mass in her uterus. She also felt a mass on her mammary, and we plan on having her lungs x-rayed to see if the tumor metastasized. We are guarded about her prognosis. Bee is fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Mashed Potato
Male, Young Adult
ADOPTION PENDING shelter bunny Mashed Potato came to WMRR with his brother, Russet, after being abandoned on the doorstep. He is a vibrant, friendly boy with lots of love to give.
Mashed Potato is fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Milo
Male, Adult
ADOPTION PENDING VACCINATION shelter bunny Milo was brought to WMRR after he lost his bond mate and his humans were no longer able to provide care for him. Milo is very sweet, loves being pet, and would likely make a good candidate for bonding with another bunny.
Milo is not yet vaccinated for RHDV2. He has a family lined up for when he is.
Russet
Male, Young Adult
ADOPTION PENDING.BONDING shelter bunny Russet came to WMRR with his brother, Mashed Potato, after being abandoned on the doorstep. He is a sweet, gentle boy who is timid at first but quickly warms up to patient humans. He also has the most beautiful blue eyes!
Russet is fully vaccinated for RHDV2.
Sanctuary Bunnies
Some bunnies who come into our rescue have special medical needs and cannot be adopted out. These are our Sanctuary Bunnies. Sponsor a Sanctuary Bunny by donating to WMRR today!
Cordelia
Female, Adult
Cordelia was brought to WMRR after she had been abandoned in an apartment basement. She is a sweet yet shy girl who is absolutely beautiful. Cordelia enjoys snuggles and having her lovely fur brushed. She also has complex medical needs, so she is living in a bunny-savvy sanctuary home.
Punkin
Female, Adult
Punkin came to WMRR when her owner was no longer able to care for her. She is a spunky girl who enjoys a good head rub but is not a fan of being picked up. She is a tiny cutie pie but due to chronic ear issues, she is a sanctuary bunny.
Poppy
Male, Adult
Poppy is a big, sweet fuzzy boy with beautiful blue eyes. Like many white animals with blue eyes, Poppy is deaf. Poppy is a very friendly gentle giant, and is very treat motivated. Poppy both plays hard and snoozes hard—if he’s not playing with his toys, he’s fast asleep in his bed. Though he's not a senior, Poppy has advanced severe arthritis in his back legs and remains in sanctuary so he can receive regular laser treatments.
Muffin
Female, Adult
Muffin was abandoned with her five siblings in a crate on a farm. While her siblings all found homes, Muffin has head tilt, cataracts, and often gets spooked and has freak outs. CT scans show cranial deformities, which could explain neurological problems. Her foster dad gives her daily massages and does exercises with her which have helped improve her head tilt. She is a very happy gal and does zoomies around her pen when she sees her papa. She will be staying with him as WMRR continues to support her care.
